SPEAR Consortium

The European and African farming sector is acknowledged as being highly diverse, both with regards to management and standards, but also in society’s approach, and level of technical development among stakeholders. SPEAR consortium has been designed to provide strong competence and knowledge for each aspect of the value chain analysis. Due to the inter-and trans-disciplinary nature of the project, the team includes experts with different disciplinary backgrounds and research interests: development, agriculture and environmental sciences, socio-economy, in addition to private sector players and policy professionals as well as practitioners providing a significant amount of expertise. This diversity helps to significantly spread the impact of the project over many domains. Many of the participants from these partners have collaborated in the past in national, EU or other international projects. This ensures that the consortium has enough congruence to enable the synergies needed for successfully completing the complex research tasks.
